Sheltered housing

The Council has a number of sheltered housing schemes which contain accommodation which is self-contained homes. Primarily sheltered housing is set up to cater for older people providing care and support to tenants who find living alone difficult. However in recent years, younger tenants fulfilling the entry requirements have been offered sheltered housing.Sheltered housing

Our sheltered housing schemes are managed by the Independent Living Service out of three sheltered housing “hubs” based at

  • Boothby Court (North)
  • Holmcroft House (Central)
  • Clifton Court (South).

The seven day service provide essential support to tenants by regularly contacting them and keeping in touch with families and support services, they do not provide medical or nursing assistance to tenants but can help with linking the relevant support needed by elder residents.

The Independent Living Team work with all older and vulnerable residents and not just those who live in sheltered schemes.
